Before you start

Syntax, unit, UI and installed-app tests answer different questions. Choose checks that correspond to actual requirements and likely failures.

Repeating broad suites without a new hypothesis wastes time. Use focused tests while changing code, then relevant release checks.

Step by step

  1. Write the main success case and important failures in plain language.
  2. Run fast focused checks during implementation.
  3. Exercise the interface and inspect screenshots/logs where appearance/input matter.
  4. Build and test the packaged or deployed output.
  5. Report passed, failed and blocked checks.

Try this

Example request

Test as a new user: create a note, edit it, close/reopen, then delete it. Test empty input and failed save. Distinguish installed-build checks from unit tests.

Check the result

  • Assertions check outcomes.
  • Zero discovered tests is not a pass.
  • Screenshots show the current build.
  • Unavailable device/signing checks remain pending.

If something goes wrong

Preserve the failure, narrow the cause and repeat the affected check after fixing it.

Use suitable test data for credentials, purchases and destructive actions.
