Backends, APIs and databases

Make data behavior part of the product.

Reviewed 6 October 2026 · 2 min read

Import example project ↗Two named conversations, shared files, revisions and a preview.

Before you start

Describe what data exists, who owns it and who may read/change it. Decide whether it is local, synced or shared.

Build with development data and separate credentials. Never place private keys in a browser bundle or example prompt.

Step by step

  1. Define a small data model and create/read/update/delete flows.
  2. Add server-side validation and account-level access checks.
  3. Handle retries without duplicating single actions.
  4. Test invalid input, authorization failures, server errors and persistence after restart.
  5. Back up before schema changes and test migrations on a copy.

Try this

Example request

Add a notes API where each signed-in user accesses only their own notes. Test create, edit, delete, invalid input and cross-account access. Keep credentials off the frontend and document local setup.

Check the result

  • One account cannot read another’s records.
  • Retries do not duplicate messages or purchases.
  • Failures leave data recoverable.
  • Migrations have a tested recovery plan.

If something goes wrong

For data disappearing after restart, check the storage path and persistence.

Do not fix access failures by removing authorization globally.
